Philippine Airlines announced today (August 26) the election of a new member of the Board of Directors during the airline’s annual stockholders meeting held at Century Park Hotel.

Alberto D. Lina has joined the 15-man PAL board as an independent director. Other members of the board are:

Lucio C. Tan, Harry C. Tan, Antonio L. Alindogan, Jr., Jaime J. Bautista, Charles C. Chante, Enrique Cheng, Joseph T. Chua, Gloria Tan-Climaco, Estelito P. Mendoza, Cesar N. Santos, Henry So Uy, Washington SyCip, Lucio K. Tan, Jr. and Michael G. Tan.

During the board’s organizational meeting that followed the shareholders’ meet, Dr. Lucio C. Tan was reelected chairman and chief executive officer while Harry C. Tan remained vice chairman and treasurer. Jaime J. Bautista was also reappointed PAL president and chief operating officer.

"Bert Lina's experience in air travel and logistics solutions will hopefully provide a fresh perspective at how we can address current challenges," said PAL President Jaime J. Bautista.

Alberto D. Lina, 62 years old, is a graduate of the Philippine School of Business Administration, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration (with honors) in 1968. He currently heads his own conglomerate - the Lina Group of Companies, which includes among others Airfreight 2100 Inc., U-Freight, Cargohaus, LGC Logistics, Mail & More, etc.
