Medical oxygen will only be provided by Philippine Airlines. Passengers will not be allowed to expend oxygen on board using their own oxygen bottles for safety reasons and in compliance with pertinent regulations. However, for the purpose of availing oneself of oxygen immediately prior to embarkation and after disembarkation, the carriage of an oxygen bottle/cylinder under five (05) kilograms may be allowed provided this is packed properly and is strictly not to be used on board.
PAL shall require:
72 hours advance notice and check-in one hour before the check-in time for the general public to receive carrier-supplied in-flight medical oxygen on international flights
48 hours advance notice and check-in one hour before the check-in time for the general public to receive carrier-supplied in-flight medical oxygen on domestic flights
Non-radioactive medicinal articles must not exceed 2 kg (4.4 lbs) or 2 liters (2 quarts), and the net quantity of each single article must not exceed 0.5kg (1 lb) or 0.5 liter (1 pint). Permitted to be checked in or carried on.
Ventilator, Respirator, Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) machine, or Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC)
For flights to/from United States including Guam, Passengers may bring into the cabin for their use in flight their ventilator, respirator, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) machine, or a FAA-approved Portable Oxygen Concentrator (POC) in the passenger cabin, provided:
The device meets requirements for medical portable electronic devices set by the FAA and displays the manufacturer’s label that indicates the device meets FAA requirements
The device can be stowed and used in the passenger cabin consistent with applicable TSA, FAA and PHMSA regulations, and the safety or security regulations of the CAAP.
For flights to/from the United States including Guam, PAL shall provide information during the reservation process upon inquiry from an individual concerning the use in the cabin during air transportation on such a flight of a ventilator, respirator, continuous positive airway machine, or POC of a kind equivalent to an FAA-approved POC. The information to be provided shall be as follows:
The device must be labeled by the manufacturer to reflect that it has been tested to meet requirements for medical portable electronic devices set by the FAA.
The maximum weight and dimensions (length, width, height) of the device to be used by an individual that can be accommodated in the aircraft cabin consistent with the safety regulations of the CAAP;
The requirement to bring an adequate number of batteries based on the battery manufacturer’s estimate of the hours of battery life while the device is in use and the information provided in the physician’s statement, to power the device for not less than 150% of the expected maximum flight duration and to ensure that extra batteries carried onboard to power the device are packaged in accordance with applicable government safety regulations;
That an individual must notify PAL 48 hours before scheduled departure to learn the expected maximum duration of his/her flight in order to determine the required number of batteries for his/her particular ventilator, respirator, continuous positive airway pressure machine, or POC;
That the individual planning to use such a device must check-in up to one hour before the check-in time for the general public; and
That an individual who wishes to use a POC onboard an aircraft must present to the operating carrier at the airport a medical certificate.
If an individual does not comply with the conditions for acceptance of a medical portable electronic device as outlined above, PAL may deny boarding to the individual and provide a written explanation to the individual in accordance with 14 CFR 382.19(d).
Portable Oxygen Concentrators
The following are the FAA-approved Portable Oxygen Concentrators (POCs):
PAL shall require 48 hours advance notice and check-in one hour before the check-in time for the general public if the passenger will use his/her ventilator, respirator, CPAP machine or POC.
