Travel Advisory

CEBU arrival for flights from LAX, SFO & now Toronto

15 Jun 2020

ADVISORY #73
PHL Time: 16 June 2020

Attention - Passengers from PR103, PR105 and PR119 departing on June 17

We wish to alert our passengers that three PAL flights departing from the US and Canada on June 17 will be re-routed to land in CEBU (Mactan Cebu International Airport - CEB ) instead of in Manila, subject to final government approvals. These flights are:

• PR103 departing Los Angeles (LAX) on June 17
-- will operate instead as PR5103 departing LAX at 11:55 PM and arriving in CEB at 5:00 AM on June 19

• PR105 departing San Francisco (SFO) on June 17
-- will operate instead as PR5105 departing SFO at 1:30 PM on June 18 and arriving in CEB at 6:00 PM on June 19
-- please note re-timing to June 18 noontime departure from SFO to allow for required arrival spacing interval at Cebu airport.

• PR119 departing Toronto (YYZ) on June 17
-- will operate instead as PR5119 departing Toronto at 9:00 AM on June 18 and arriving in CEB at 1:00 PM on June 19
-- please note re-timing to June 18 morning departure from Toronto to allow for required arrival spacing interval at Cebu airport.

The re-routing is necessary to avoid the cancellation of these two flights because of ongoing limitations in Manila's quarantine processing capacity (limited to just 600 passengers every day for all airlines combined, thus airlines have to revise or cancel flights.)

CEBU AIRPORT & PROVINCE ON GCQ STATUS

Cebu airport, Mactan Island and most of the province of Cebu are presently under a more relaxed GCQ or General Community Quarantine status; this includes the many accredited hotels on Mactan Island. Only Cebu City proper has been classified under the stricter ECQ or Enhanced Community Quarantine status.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR OUR PASSENGERS ARRIVING IN CEBU

Our passengers on these flights will undergo the required COVID testing in Cebu rather than in Manila, and quarantine at a Cebu hotel accredited by the Department of Health until they receive a negative test result (usually within 24 to 48 hours of the test).

Once a negative test result is confirmed, PAL will fly them from Cebu to Manila free of charge. (Please note that the cost for the COVID tests and the quarantine hotel will be borne by the traveler, whether the tests and quarantine take place in Cebu or Manila.)

For questions, please contact our PAL Hotline for the U.S. at 1-800-435-9725, and for Canada at 1-800-435-9725.

PLEASE NOTE:

The arrangement to land in Cebu is subject to final approvals from the local and national health and aviation authorities, who are in the final stage of setting up the required COVID-19 quarantine facilities to allow for international arrivals at Mactan Cebu airport. PAL is presently coordinating closely with the concerned authorities. (If the airport arrangements or approvals are not ready for June 19 arrivals, we will have no choice but to cancel the flights.)

We know that you have urgent and essential reasons to travel, and our aircraft and crew are ready to fly you home. For this reason, we are working with our government authorities to help find solutions to the quarantine arrival limitations, and the new option to land in Cebu is one such solution. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this challenging time.
