IMPORTANT PAL ADVISORY: UPDATED / AS OF 6PM FEB 6, 2020

05 Feb 2020

Philippine Airlines will be mounting special flights on FEBRUARY 10, 2020 MONDAY to assist passengers stranded as a result of the cancellation of all PAL flights to and from mainland China for the month of February, amidst the ongoing coronavirus (nCoV ARD) situation.

The special PAL flights serving the Manila-Xiamen and Xiamen-Manila routes will be staffed with pilots and cabin crew who volunteered for the service.  The flag carrier plans to use its 199-seater  Airbus A321 aircraft for the planned mission.

Due to the Philippine Government Travel Ban, the Manila to Xiamen flight on February 10, 2020 is strictly for non-Filipino citizens in Manila.

The Xiamen to Manila flight on February 10 is strictly for Filipino citizens, Philippine Resident Visa Holders stranded in China or Special Administrative Regions (SARs).

Passengers who were accepted or passengers who booked in these flights must present their passport/and proof of citizenship. Failure to present a proof of identification will result to denial of carriage in the flight.

The flag carrier was compelled to cancel its mainland China flights since February 2, after the Philippine Government imposed a ban on travel of Filipinos to mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, along with restrictions barring foreign nationals from China from entering the Philippines (except for those holding Philippine-issued Permanent Resident Visas).

Flight PR 334 will depart Manila for Xiamen at 7:30AM on February 10, arriving at 9:55AM.   The return PR335 leg will depart Xiamen at 11:05AM, and arrive in Manila at 1:50PM on February 10.

These special flights are subject to final government approvals, including the waiver of the Filipino travel ban for concerned pilots and cabin crew, who will have to submit to home quarantine for 14 days after their return to the Philippines.  At present, 64 PAL crew members are undergoing the mandated 14-day quarantine after flying in from China prior to the imposed travel ban.  All PAL crew members are Filipino nationals.

While the special flights on February 10, 2020 shall accommodate qualified stranded passengers affected by 2019-nCoV flight cancellations, the open seats are also available for new bookings.

Here are requirements and guidelines for BOTH new bookings and re-accommodated passengers:

  • Due to the Philippine Government Travel Ban, the Manila to Xiamen flight on February 10 is strictly for non-Filipino citizens in Manila. The Xiamen to Manila flight on February 10 is strictly for Filipino citizens / Philippine Permanent Resident Visa Holders in mainland China / Special Administrative Regions (SARs)
  • Passengers with bookings on these flights must present their passport/and proof of citizenship. Failure to present proper documentation will result to denial of carriage in the flight.
  • Passengers must take care of their transportation to their airport terminal of choice and their transportation from the airport to area of residence
  • (for February 10 Xiamen to Manila flight) As mandated by the Philippine Government, all passengers will be required to undergo home quarantine for 14 days upon arrival in Manila, as supervised by the Philippine Bureau of Quarantine.
