PAL to operate replacement flights for affected passengers

In the aftermath of Typhoon Tisoy ("Kammuri"), Philippine Airlines will operate the following special replacement flights 0n certain routes, to assist passengers whose originally scheduled flights were cancelled:

PR 5116/5117 Manila - Vancouver - Manila - departing Manila at 7:00 am;  departing Vancouver at 4:40 am
PR 5118/5119 Manila - Toronto - Manila - departing Manila at 6:50 am; departing Toronto at 11:20 am 
PR 5469 - Seoul Incheon - Manila - departing Seoul Incheon at 12:00 am midnight

We are also arranging some replacement flights on certain domestic routes, subject to final slot clearances and other operational arrangements.

Passengers affected by canceled flights, who have not been rebooked on replacement or alternative flights, have the option to rebook on the flight of your choice within 30 days from original travel date with rebooking service fees waived. You also have the option to refund your ticket cost within 30 days from your original flight date with refund service fees waived. Rerouting is allowed, subject to certain conditions.

Please note that this is a developing situation;  further changes may be expected.

As the typhoon recedes and the weather improves, it will take some time for Philippine Airlines and other airlines to restore normal schedules.  All efforts are now being exerted to bring aircraft back to the Manila/NAIA base, operate selected replacement flights and undertake other recovery actions and operational adjustments; all these need to be phased in based on amended slot clearances at affected airports.  We will need to do this in coordination with the airport and air traffic control authorities in the Philippines, as well as in the other countries where we have had to park aircraft or implement schedule changes.

We greatly appreciate the kind patience and understanding of our passengers who have been inconvenienced by these cancellations and adjustments, which were necessary in view of the severe typhoon and the 12-hour closure of Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport.  We sincerely apologize to all our customers who experienced difficulties in calling our contact centers or communicating by e-mail and social media channels, as we dealt with a considerable surge of calls and messages along with a shortage of personnel in certain areas directly affected by the typhoon.

Please bear with us as we spare no effort to restore full operations throughout our network in the coming days.

Please be advised that effective immediately, passengers of Philippine Airlines with confirmed tickets to and from Xiamen, Jinjiang, Canton, Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau issued on or before 24 January 2020 for travel between 24 January until 29 February 2020 may request for rebooking, rerouting or refund with waiver of penalties.

Please be advised that we are closely monitoring reports on the novel coronavirus. Although Philippine Airlines does not operate flights to or from Wuhan, the city in China where the virus is reported to have originated, we are closely coordinating with the Philippine Department of Health and the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) along with other concerned health authorities, in taking sensible precautionary measures for the safety and protection of our passengers. This includes non-obtrusive screening at concerned airports.
