Philippine Airlines would love your travel experience to be worry-free. We have compiled these travel tips to guide you before you fly.


   

    Be Notified on flight changes by giving us your complete contact details (mobile number and e-mail address).

Please make sure that you provide your mobile number and e-mail address when you book your flight directly with PAL. Otherwise, if you booked through a travel agent or another party, please expect to receive flight notifications from them. If you would like to receive notifications directly from PAL, please share your contact details (e-mail address and mobile number) with us by calling our hotline with the numbers below.

   Be Informed by checking the Flight Status before your flight.


   Make it a habit to check your flight schedule in two easy ways:


 

   The Flight Status tab in our website


 

   Our hotline in your area, then select Arrival and Departure Information if you are calling on the day of your flight. If you are calling 1-2 days before or after your flight,
   please wait for a Customer Service Representative for assistance. Please prepare your flight number beforehand for faster communication.




   

   Check the validity of your passport and ID.

Ensure that your passport is at least 6 months valid from your date of travel for international trips. For domestic trips, always brings a valid government, school, or company-issued ID. The name indicated on your ticket must be exactly the same as the name reflected in the ID presented.



   

   Make sure that your Travel Documents are complete.

Visas, permits, and documents required differ depending on your destination. Note that you are responsible for obtaining and holding all required travel documents and visas.  Always ensure that you have these documents with you for presentation during your flight.



   

   Book multiple flights in a single ticket.

If you will be taking two or more flights to get to your final destination, please make sure to book all your connecting flights (from origin to final destination) in a single ticket, instead of having separate bookings which results in several tickets. By purchasing multiple flights in one ticket, you are assured that your connecting flights are covered for any flight changes, delays, or cancellations. Buying multiple flights in one ticket also ensures that there is enough time in between flights for you to comfortably connect to your next flight.



   

   Check the baggage allowance and restrictions of your booking class.

When packing your carry-on baggage, please make sure that you only have 10 pieces of liquid products kept in containers of 100mL or less. Each passenger is allowed one piece of carry-on baggage with a maximum weight 7 kg or 15 lbs. PAL provides free check-in baggage allowance. Check our Baggage Allowance for further details.



   

   Secure your valuables by keeping them on your person at all times.

Do not place jewelry, money, gadgets, important documents and other valuables in your check-in luggage. While we take the utmost care in handling your baggage, it would be best to keep your most vital items secure with you.



   

   Check in online using your laptop or mobile device, or through our Check-In Kiosks.

Save time at the airport through PAL’s Online Check-In, which opens 24 hours to 1 hour before the flight. You may also use the Check-In Kiosks at the departures area of NAIA Terminals 2 and 3 if you are traveling from Manila to any of our domestic airports. Make sure to print or save digital copies of your boarding pass. Learn more about our online check-in here.


For domestic travel without check-in bags, please proceed to the boarding gate with your printed boarding pass and valid ID 45 minutes before departure time. Check-in counters of Domestic Flights close 45 minutes before departure time, while check-in counters of International Flights departing from all airports in the Philippines and in the world close one (1) Hour / 60 minutes before departure time (except Quanzhou which closes 45 minutes before departure time).



   

   Ask to be checked through your connecting flight.

If you will be taking multiple flights with PAL or with our partner airlines to reach your final destination, please ask the check-in agent to check through all your flights from origin to final destination. This will allow you to drop off your baggage in Transfer Desks instead of having to line up at the Check-In counter after every flight. In some routes, your baggage may also be sent directly to your final destination.


Please note that each flight has varying free baggage allowance. Excess baggage fees will apply if your check-in luggage exceeds your baggage allocation in a connecting flight. For more details on connecting flights, please click here.



   

   Allocate enough time for security checks when going to the airport.

Plan to leave your homes early to be at the airport at least 3 hours before the flight for international travel, and 2 hours before the flight for domestic travel to allot time for immigration and security checks.


Check-in counters of Domestic Flights close 45 minutes before departure time, while check-in counters of International Flights departing from all airports in the Philippines and in the world close one (1) Hour / 60 minutes before departure time (except Quanzhou which closes 45 minutes before departure time). Boarding gates close 15 minutes before departure time.



   

   Approach our Transfer Desk if you’re a transferring passenger.

Please inform our check-in agents if you have a connecting flight so that we may properly tag your check-in baggage to your final destination in qualified routes. This will also help us prepare to assist you in case flight delays or cancellations occur.


Once you have arrived in your stopover airport, look for a Transfer Desk for you to be directed to your connecting flight as efficiently as possible. We will be happy to also answer any questions or extend help needed regarding connecting flights.


You may also drop off your baggage in the Transfer Desk if you requested to be checked through during check-in.



   

   Bring extra cash to pay for the required Travel Tax.

If you opted not to include the Travel Tax charge when purchasing your ticket, please prepare PHP1,620.00 for Full Travel Tax, PHP810.00 for Standard Reduced Travel Tax, or PHP300.00 for Privileged Reduced Travel Tax for dependents of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs). Be sure to check www.tieza.gov.ph for coverage and exemptions.
